One of the most important steps of voting is taking time to learn what's on your ballot and decide who you will be voting for. These are leaders who will represent you so it is important that you vote for someone who matches your values.
Massachusetts voters will be electing municipal government positions, including Mayor, School Committee, City Council, Select Board, Town Meeting Member, Town Clerk, and several boards and commissions.
You have the opportunity to influence systems of power and make an impact on issues you care about by voting!
You may also be able to vote on proposed local, or state laws and policies known as ballot measures. Ballot measures that are created by citizen groups are called ballot initiatives.
If you would like to vote in local elections in your hometown (a different town or city than Salem), please visit the respective city clerk or town clerk for more information. Please note that towns do not have local elections in November.
