Apply: Graduate Certificate in Teacher Leadership

Please note: The Graduate Certificate in Teacher Leadership program does not lead to an academic degree.

Required Materials

• $50 non-refundable application fee 

• Official transcript from the highest degree earned 

  • Minimum final grade point average of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale in your bachelor's degree  

  • Minimum final grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in your master’s degree 

  • If you attended an institution outside of the United States, a transcript evaluation from one of our approved agencies is required. 

• One letter of reference (preferably from a building principal or other educational supervisor). 

• Resume, demonstrating evidence of at least two years of teaching experience, or education-related, experience 

• Statement of purpose, answering the following questions: 

  • We typically launch at least three fully online cohorts in the fall of each academic year. (Additional in-person cohorts may also launch in alternating years. Please reach out to program coordinators if interested in an in-person experience). Each cohort will meet only on their dedicated day, across the full year of the program. Candidates, in your statement of purpose, please rank your cohort preferences by meeting day (i.e., Tuesday online, Wednesday online, Thursday online). 

  • What current and/or previous work experience has prepared you for leadership roles? 

  • Why is this leadership program the right fit for you now? 

  • Ideally, how would you like to make use of your leadership skills in your school and/or district? 

• English Proficiency, if applicable for international applicants 

Deadlines

• Applications are currently being accepted for fall 2026. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until cohorts are full or until, July 1, 2026. Please contact program coordinators with questions. 

The certificate in teacher leadership program does not support international students in F or J status due to program modality and/or part-time status. Please contact graduate admissions to verify which programs are suitable.
