The Marion and Jasper Whiting Foundation travel fellowships are for teachers at the college or university level to improve and enhance the quality of their instruction, and to do so in a location other than that which they are most closely associated.

Eligibility:
- Applicants must be employed as a teacher at a New England-based college or university.
- Beginning 2024, the Foundation added a two-year waiting period. Previous recipients may reapply only after two years from the date the prior grant report was submitted.
- Grants are primarily for travel and related expenses and not as salary substitutes, scholarships, or grants in aid. If re-applying, travel should be to a different location than the applicant’s previous award.
Award background:
- Grants typically range from $1,500 to $6,000 and primarily support travel and related expenses
- The foundation aims to "broaden the minds of teachers so as to improve and enhance the quality of their instruction."
Application requirements:
- Project description of no more than 3 pages
- CV (short form) showing the applicant to be a university teacher or a graduate of a college or university progressing toward a teaching career on the college or university level.
- Detailed budget indicating the estimated travel expenses to be incurred in carrying out the project. (Equipment and materials are not permissible expenses.)
- Completed candidate information form (provided by Anya)
- Two letters of recommendation from fellow faculty members, professors, or similar persons, one of which must be from the dean of faculty or the chairperson of the candidate's department, who can speak to both the candidate and the project. Supporting letters must be on official letterhead.
