Faculty Innovation Showcase: Innovations in Online Teaching and Learning

Join ´ºÃÎÖ±²¥â€™s Center for Teaching Innovation (CTI) for our annual end-of-semester Faculty Innovation Showcase, held on Reading Day, prior to the university holiday party.

This year’s showcase theme is Innovations in Online Teaching and Learning. We invite full- and part-time faculty to share their experiences with course or program design and delivery that incorporate and engage with online components in any modality: fully online (synchronous or asynchronous), hybrid, and in-person (face-to-face) courses or programs are welcome. 

 

Possible topics for Innovations in Online Teaching and Learning include:

  • Accessibility and inclusive design in Canvas and other online environments
  • Use of technology and digital tools that support learning and 
  • Creative modes of online engagement and interaction to support engaged dialogue and community building in the classroom
  • The implications of AI in online learning spaces
  • Technology and digital tools used by students and faculty within a department, program, or area
  • Online assignment and assessment strategies
  • Regular and Substantive Interactions (RSIs) in online courses
  • Reflections on challenges and successes in online teaching and learning

Call for Faculty Presenters

Format

The virtual showcase will be structured as a series of 5-7 minutes lightning talks, followed by a Q&A session that discusses all presentations. In each lightning talk, the presenter(s) will have 5-7 minutes to present; slides, presentation materials, and participatory elements (like audience polls, etc.) are welcome but not required. 

How to Participate

, faculty are invited to submit a presentation title and a brief description. We encourage submissions from faculty across modalities and disciplines, and we hope to include as many presenters as possible. Due to time constraints, we may not be able to accept every submission. If your presentation is not selected, we can explore other ways to share your work with the SSU community.

Submission Deadline

Presenter submissions are due Monday, November 10, by 5 pm. CTI will follow up with next steps by Friday, November 17 to confirm participation. We look forward to hearing about your online teaching innovations!
