National Transfer Student Week

Join us in celebrating our 2^nd Annual National Transfer Student Week at ´ºÃÎÖ±²¥! 
 

This week-long celebration honors our incredible transfer student community through fun events, learning opportunities, and chances to connect with other Vikings across campus. Whether you’re a new or returning transfer student, we can’t wait to celebrate you and all that you bring to our university community.

October 20-October 24, 2025 

Monday, October 20

Transfer Student Week Kick-Off Booths 

Time: 11 am-2 pm 

Location:  

• Booth #1 – Ellison Campus Center Lobby 

• Booth #2 – Classroom Building Lobby  

Description: Join us for National Transfer Student Week celebration booth will be located on both north campus and central campus that will have fun interactive games/activities, candy, and swag to celebrate our transfer student community.  

Rec Skate 

Location: O’Keefe Complex – Rockett Arena 

Time: 

• Free Skate: 11 am-12 pm 

• Stick and Puck Time: 12-1 pm   

Join us during community time for free skate and stick and puck time. Skates are not provided, and all participants must complete their Gassett Fitness Center waiver on our .

Tuesday, October 21 

Prepare and Polish Your Resume with Career Services  

Time: 12:30-1:30 pm 

Location: Career Services Room 105, Ellison Campus Center 

Description: 

Looking to land your next job or internship? Join Career Services to learn how to highlight your skills and experiences. Whether you’re just getting started or looking to update your resume, we’re here to help you make your application materials stand out. Already have a resume? Bring a copy with you – we will offer quick resume reviews and on-the-spot support. 

Trivia Night Hosted by TAU Sigma Honor Society 

Time: 4:30-5:30 pm 

Location: North Dining (Lower Level) 

Description: Put your knowledge to the test and join us for a fun-filled evening of trivia! Compete with friends, meet members of the Tau Sigma Honor Society, and enjoy some friendly competition.

Wednesday, October 22

Give Your Wallet a Treat, Learn the Tricks of Banking  

Time: 12:30-2 pm 

Location: Forten 123 

Description: Join the Student Navigation Center for this in-person lunch and learn Money Matters event. Feed your mind and your body! Professional bankers will teach students about the benefits of bank accounts, building financial relationships, and situations to avoid. Lunch will be provided! 

Super Smash Tournament 

Location: Ellison Campus Center – Esports Lounge ECC010 

Time: 5-8 pm

Smash the opposition in the Esports Lounge! Our Switch 2 will host this in-house Super Smash Bros tournament. All skill levels are invited to participate.

Thursday, October 23

Viking Snacks + Crafts 

Time: 1-3 pm

Location: Alumni Plaza 

Description: Join the Orientation Office for an afternoon of fall fun! Enjoy festive snacks, decorate your own pumpkin, and unwind with fellow Vikings in the heart of campus. It’s the perfect way to celebrate the season, get creative, and connect with your Salem State community. 

Student and Staff Vaccine Clinic 

Time: 12:30-2 pm

Location: Ellison Campus Center-Commuter Lounge 

Description:  

Make an appointment to receive your updated vaccines, right on campus, with Shaw's pharmacy! Counseling and Health services recommends everyone update our annual flu vaccine! Receiving your annual flu vaccine reduces your personal risk for illness and reduces the risk of illness to those in your personal community and in our campus community. Let's protect one another and get vaccinated- No Flu @ SSU!   
 
Vaccines offered include flu, COVID, Tdap, HPV, Meningitis, MMR, Hep B, Pneumonia, Shingles, RSVP. Insurance card and photo ID will be required.

Transfer Student Week: Halloween Karaoke and Costume Contest  

Co-Hosted By SSU MASSPIRG and Orientation Office 

Time: 6-8 pm

Location: Starbucks Cafe 

Description: Get ready for a spooktacular night of music, laughter, and Viking spirit! Join us as we celebrate Transfer Week with a Halloween-themed karaoke and costume contest. Show off your singing skills, dress to impress (or scare!), and compete for fun prizes. Whether you take the stage or cheer from the crowd, it’s the perfect way to connect with fellow transfer students and get into the Halloween spirit. Costumes encouraged creativity rewarded! All students are welcome to attend this event.

Pumpkin Decorating Contest Voting Week  

Location: Ellison Campus Center Lobby  

All-Day 

Join the Student Involvement and Operations Office by stopping by the pumpkin decorating display in the Ellison Campus Center Lobby! Check out the creative pumpkin designs and cast your vote for your favorite. Simply scan the QR code on display and sign in with your SSU email and password to submit your vote. (One vote per person.) Don’t miss your chance to support your fellow Vikings and celebrate some fall fun on campus! Transfer Student Week Spotlights 

As part of our celebration, we’re excited to feature Transfer Student Week Spotlights showcasing the amazing transfer students, faculty, and staff who help make Salem State such a welcoming and vibrant community. 

Share your story or nominate someone who embodies the Viking spirit! Selected spotlights will be featured on our @SSUOrientation social media pages throughout the week.
