Welcome to Academic Advising! Our office is committed to providing students with guidance and support as they explore the academic opportunities available to them and understanding their degree requirements to reach graduation. We are full-time professional advisors who are available to students all year round!
Drop-in Advising Help
Do you need to see a professional advisor for Spring 2026 registration assistance? We are available for drop-ins - no appointment needed.
Academic Advising will be available to help students with advising and registration needs for Spring 2026. We can assist with the following:
- advising for course selection/registration for winter or spring 2026
- resolve faculty advisor holds
- leave of absence or official withdrawal (for a future semester)
- change of major requests/degree mapping 
- assist with general academic problem solving 
- review advising holds

Overview of Services
Students benefit from a mentor/mentee relationship by meeting regularly with the professional advisors to check in on their progress and goals and discuss any other concerns related to their academics, and connect them to countless resources throughout their journey at Salem State!
Meeting regularly with a professional advisor, students:
- plan and understand their academic program programs
- ensure they are meeting degree requirements
- guide students through major exploration
- explore options before making personal and academic decisions
- identify various resources at Salem State
- provide holistic support to students who are experiencing academic difficulties
- discuss their long-term educational goals

Considering taking a Leave of Absence or Official Withdrawal for the Semester?
